Warrior Princess is an upcoming recording artist from Orangeburg, South Carolina by way of Timmonsville, South Carolina. She developed a passion for music at an early age. After losing her 2-year-old autistic son in 2011 to cancer, now along with the many other hats that she wears, she is an advocate for autism and childhood cancer. She believes music is like poetry and the art that it consists of makes you want to move, cry, laugh or just do something. There are many artists from different genres that influence her such as Mary J. Blige, Erica Campbell, The Williams Sisters, Mali Music, Rare Breed and Queen Omega just to name a few. She often says music is not just words on a page. It's the heartbeat of her ancestors running through the swamps, the sound of rain hitting against a metal roof, or the crickets chirping on a dark night in the woods. It's not just music, it's medicine. Her first performance as Shawanda came at the age of 5 when she performed at her childhood church along with an all girls group called "The Voices of Truth" who was managed by her mom. She has since been performing on many platforms. She is most requested to sing at funerals. Something that was often said is that her voice could make a grown man cry. There is nother more mesmerizing than her hymn-like lyrics, edgy beats along with those visuals. Together, they form a unique work of art. Shawanda, now known as Warrior Princess, recorded her first single "Goodbye" in April 2023 in which the official audio was released in July 2023 and the official music video in November 2023. This song was inspired by all her loved ones that have gone on before and had to go. They paved the way for this lil' country girl from a small town many have never heard of. Their time on this side was rough but it was worth their crown. They are there with the Father now waiting for the rest of us.
